The Anne Arundel County – Jennifer Road Detention Center is a medium-sized correctional facility located in Annapolis, Maryland. Situated on 11 acres of land in the metropolitan area, the facility has been in operation since 1937.   • A maximum of two adults and two children are allowed to visit an inmate at a time, as long as they check in together. Children must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.
  • Each visit can last up to one hour. The facility provides a visiting schedule, which can be obtained by calling (410) 222-7374.   • To gain entry, ALL VISITORS must present a valid, unexpired driver’s license, government-issued ID, or passport. If using a passport, visitors must also provide a piece of mail displaying their current mailing address, such as a utility bill or phone bill.
  • Commissary deposits can be made through accesscorrections.com, by phone at (866) 345-1884, or by using the kiosk located in the Detention Center Lobby.
  • Visitors with disabilities who require special accommodations must make the request upon arrival at the facility.
  • Proper attire is mandatory during visits at the Jennifer Road Detention Center. Revealing, suggestive, and provocative clothing is strictly prohibited. Visitors must wear appropriate footwear and dress in a manner befitting a business and public agency setting.

 

The Jennifer Road Detention Center enforces a dress code for visitors to maintain a respectful and appropriate environment. The following types of clothing are not permitted for both male and female visitors:


  • See-through apparel
  • Shirts and blouses with plunging necklines
  • Pants and shorts with high-cut splits
  • Halter tops
  • Cropped shirts or jerseys
  • Mini skirts or dresses
  • Shorts above the mid-thigh line
  • Form-fitting clothes, such as leotards, spandex, and leggings
  • Clothes that expose a person’s midriff, side, or back
  • Tube tops or tank tops


Please note that the above list is not exhaustive. If any member of the Detention Center’s staff determines that your attire is inappropriate, revealing, suggestive, or provocative, you will be asked to leave and return in clothing that complies with the dress code. Posting a Mail for Inmates

When sending mail to the facility, please follow these guidelines to ensure proper delivery:


  1. Use plain white envelopes that are either legal or letter sized, and write on plain or lined white paper.
  2. Each piece of mail must include the inmate’s first and last name, the sender’s first and last name, and a complete return address.
  3. Failure to comply with these rules will result in the mail being treated as contraband. Please note that this list is not exhaustive.


If contraband is discovered in your mail, one of the following actions will be taken:


  1. The mail will be returned to you.
  2. If the contraband poses a health or safety risk to individuals or the facility, it will be safely destroyed.
  3. In cases where the contraband is relevant to a criminal investigation, it will be confiscated as evidence.

Sending Inmate Money

To deposit money into an inmate’s commissary account at Anne Arundel County – Jennifer Road Detention Center in Maryland, you have several approved options:


  • Onsite deposits can be made at the kiosk located in the lobby of Anne Arundel County – Jennifer Road Detention Center. Cash, debit cards, and credit cards are accepted for these deposits.
