Cost of Remote Video Visitation:

  •  For virtual paid visitation, each ‘friends and family remote visit’ typically lasts between 20 to 25 minutes and incurs an approximate cost of $7.95 plus applicable taxes.
  • Alternatively, visitors have the option to visit the jail in person and engage in a video chat with their inmate using the JailFunds/VendEngine kiosk located in the lobby. The on-site video visitation service is provided free of charge.


Providing Inmates With Financial Assistance

Option 1 – In-Person Deposit at the Jail:

  • Assumption Parish Jail, like many other facilities, collaborates with a private company to handle online deposits into inmate accounts. A small fee is charged for this service, usually lower than the costs associated with transportation and parking if you were to visit the jail in person.
  • Access the designated online platform for depositing funds and proceed to create an account, which is free of charge. Payments can be made using a debit or credit card.


Option 3 – Deposit via Mail:

  • If you reside too far from the jail or do not possess a debit/credit card for online transactions, you have the option to mail a deposit. It should be noted that this method takes more time to process compared to the other options.
  • When sending a deposit by mail, it is important to avoid including cash. Instead, use a Money Order obtained from the US Post Office, a reputable bank, or Western Union.
  • Make the Money Order payable to the inmate’s name and include their Inmate ID# in the memo section of the Money Order.
  • To ensure accuracy, contact Assumption Parish Jail at 985-369-7283 to confirm the correct mailing address and specific instructions on how to make out the Money Order.
  • Failure to follow these guidelines correctly may result in a delay in crediting the inmate’s account, requiring you to submit a second Money Order.

Assumption Parish, also known as Paroisse de l’Assomption in French and Parroquia de la Asunción in Spanish, is situated in the state of Louisiana, United States. According to the 2020 census, the parish has a population of 21,039. Napoleonville serves as its parish seat. Assumption Parish was originally established in 1807 as one of the original parishes of the Territory of Orleans.

Being one of the twenty-two parishes of Acadiana, Assumption Parish is renowned for its production of sugar cane. In fact, it holds the distinction of producing the highest amount of sugar among all the parishes in Louisiana when considering its land area. The parish boasts fertile soils that are highly suitable for agricultural practices, and its history is deeply intertwined with its waterways. The region was settled by French and Spanish pioneers during the mid-18th century, and traces of their cultural heritage can still be observed

today. The use of conversational French remains prevalent among the residents, reflecting the parish’s historical connections.
