Barry County Sheriff Department

The Barry County Jail and Sheriff’s Office have established a secure and safe facility to effectively serve the law enforcement needs of the community. The site for the facility was chosen through a collaborative effort involving the County Commission, Sheriff’s department, and the design team. The selected site offered ample space for future expansion, convenient access to utilities, and a strategic location adjacent to Highway 37, the primary county highway on the west side of Cassville.

The Sheriff’s Office is prominently situated at the entrance of the site, acting as a protective barrier for the detention area positioned towards the rear of the development. The public entrance is clearly identified by black metal panels, indicating the presence of a law enforcement facility. The exterior design features gray brick, intentionally selected to complement the gray stone of the historic county courthouse, establishing a visual connection to the county’s heritage.

The project has been meticulously designed to meet the standards set by the American Correctional Association (ACA) and the Missouri Core Jail Standards. To enhance security measures, careful attention has been given to separate the entrances for different users. The facility incorporates a secure sallyport and corridors, ensuring the safe transfer of inmates to various detention areas while maintaining optimal levels of security.
